How to turn your dreams into your reality
Last week, I made my first money on the Internet.
No doubt, this was one of the most important days of my life.
But 3 years before that, I was a college drop out.
I was depressed, fat, and fed up with life.
I was so sick of it all that I couldn't take another week of it.
So I left.
But it would be another 2-3 years before I made my first dollar on the Internet.
Life had to throw me around and sharpen me into the person capable of making it.
While I'm no Elon Musk yet, I can say for certain:
The first major milestone of my dream of financial freedom has been achieved.
Today, I'm going to help you start achieving yours.
What do you want out of life?
(One of my favorite animes, Vinland Saga, absolutely GOAT'ed)
In my 23 years of existence, nobody... and I mean nobody ever asked me that.
I just did what I was told because "that's just the way things are."
(Newsflash: If the only reason for anything is some variation of "that's just the way it is," that's a red flag.)
Sadly, most people never get lucky enough to come across this question.
They go through life never questioning anything, until they lie on their deathbed wondering where they went wrong.
Most people never confront their reality because it's too painful to face.
I'd hate for that to happen to me, and I'd hate for it to happen to you too.
So I'm not here to tell you how to create your grand, sexy vision.
In fact, I'm here to help you do what I did, which is the opposite.
Here's another question:
If you lived the rest of your life the way you are now, would you be satisfied?
If you're anything like I was, the answer is probably no. In fact, you might even be disgusted at the idea of it.
And, you know what, that's not just okay...that's fantastic.
It means you're finally awake.
Set your vision, for it is your North Star.
I mean this from the bottom of my heart:
I would rather die than work a 9-5 for the rest of my life.
You're not unique.
Before you kill me, let me explain.
Everybody wants to be rich.
Everybody wants a six pack.
Everybody wants to be loved.
Few achieve them. Why?
Because they're comfortable where they're at.
They're not sick and tired of where they're at.
It's usually because...they're not clear about what they're sick and tired of, and why.
(And if you're truly happy where you're at in life, congratulations friend. I'm thrilled for you. I mean it.)
It starts with yet another question:
If you gave 0 shits about what anyone else said, what would your life look like?
Get a pen and paper out and write this out for real.
Not joking. My biggest problem for the longest time was not confronting this head on.
Here are some questions to help get you going:
What does your spouse look like?
What are your children like?
What time do you wake up?
Where do you live? City or countryside?
What does your daily life look like?
How do you feel on a daily basis?
This is your vision. Your North Star.
You now have direction to which you will direct your thought and action.
It will help bring order to your life.
But the next step is even more important.
Your Anti-Vision will push you even on your worst days
The next question is very simple.
Get your vision, and ask yourself:
Does my life look like that?
The sobering thing is: the life you're living right now probably looks nothing like the one you want to live.
At this point, pay very close attention to your emotional state. Are you:
Angry?
Scared?
Disgusted?
What about your current life makes you feel that way?
Is it your 1 hour commute to work?
Are you just fed up with everything?
Is it putting in all this effort only to get a 3% raise?
Now, double down on this.
Focus on that feeling, and ask yourself:
What would a life look like where I only felt angry, scared, and disgusted?
Do it with the same detail that you did with your vision.
If this is uncomfortable, or even painful, good.
This should sicken you.
I'll share mine:
Worked a 9-5 until 70, and ending up on my deathbed fat, lonely, with no one at my bedside.
On the days when even writing or showing up for my client is hardest, I ask myself:
"Would you rather deal with the pain of doing this, or living with the pain of your anti-vision?"
And it springs me into action.
Your vision pulls you towards greatness, your anti-vision pushes you away from pain
With only a vision, you're just dreaming.
With only an anti-vision, you get consumed by fear, anger, and pain.
With both, you have the ammo to turn your dreams into reality.
